Over the past two decades, Chevron has worked with local nonprofit organizations, universities, and government agencies to support research projects and public outreach activities. Chevron has allowed access to the GRP for others to conduct research as well as shared data about special-status plant and wildlife species at the site.
Chevron supports State and Federal agencies in research projects and shared restoration techniques implemented at the GRP. Chevron has supported the USFWS regional assessment of wetlands to assess the possible effects of drought conditions and groundwater drawdown on plant species. Site personnel have also hosted a tour of the GRP to California State Parks restoration biologists to examine restoration sites, discuss restoration techniques employed at the site, and review western snowy plover habitat.
Chevron continues to evaluate ways in which the company can add to the knowledge of the coastal dune ecosystem through cooperative efforts with other entities.
